Our location is on the eastern end of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, about 1 hour north of the Mackinac Bridge. We are a small community of friendly people, great local businesses, a fantastic school system, an onshore FREIGHTER (the Lewis G. DeTour is surrounded on three sides by water, Lake Huron, the St.
Mary's River and DeTour Passage. As you might have guessed our
primary business is tourism in both the summer and winter. Our summer
highlight is the 88 slip DNR Marina with full services, along with three local
boat ramps with ample parking (including a launch ramp on Caribou Lake).
We have miles of beaches, some sandy, where you rarely see another sunbather. There are several waterfront picnic areas and
the "northern-most" Botanical Garden in Michigan all with views of passing
Freighters. In the winter we have over 50 miles of groomed local
snowmobile trails, a large parking/staging area and easy access to
thousands of miles of E.U.P. and Canadian trails, via Drummond Island. So,
checkout our website but
more importantly come on U.P. for a visit, just hang a right 15 miles north of
the Mackinac Bridge, on M-134 and follow the signs to DeTour Village.
